Jack Loughrey

Jack Loughrey is a lifetime resident of Oswego NY and graduated from Oswego High School majoring in Machine Trades at Oswego County BOCES. While growing up he worked with his Dad and 3 brothers in the construction business and then entered the metal fabrication business after high school. Jack is married and has 2 daughters and five grandchildren who are very enjoyable and a big part of his life. In his free time Jack is also an avid fisherman involved with local clubs and tournaments including being the current tournament director of Central Team Bass club (www.centralteambass.com).

Jack has 30 plus years in the metal fabrication business with experience in the design, manufacturing, and building of all kinds of sheet metal products. Twenty of those years have been in the leadership role.

With Jack’s years of experience, joining the Universal Metal Work Team will strengthen the company’s ability to move forward and be one of Oswego County’s major businesses for years to come.

Jim Myers

Jim Myers has lived his whole life in Mexico, NY. He graduated from Mexico High School in 1987. After graduation Jim attended SUNY Morrisville and pursued his degree in Mechanical Engineering & Technology. After completing his degree, Jim was hired at Black Clawson. For 11 years he specialized in Mechanical Drafting/Design, worked as an Application Specialist and a Project Manager.

In 2000, he became employed at Universal Metal Works, formally known as C & C Metal Fabrications. Currently the General Manager of 20 employees. Jim’s responsibilities at UMW include quoting, purchasing, Project Manager, and customer relationships.

When Jim is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoys outdoor sports such as hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

Jim is very excited about the growth in business at Universal Metal Works. He feels collaboration between the Sharkeys, his co-workers and himself is one of the key components to quality customer service and operating a premier metal fabrication company.

John F. Sharkey III

John F. Sharkey III grew up in Syracuse, NY; he graduated from Jamesville Dewitt High School in 1976. After graduation, John joined his father in a new venture and together they founded Universal Joint Sales and eventually became Vice President. The company grew over the next twenty-five years to become a premier distributor of new and remanufactured parts specializing in the manufacturing of drive shafts and servicing the transportation industry. At its peak Universal Joint Sales consisted of twelve locations in three different states, with over 160 employees.

During his tenure John served as a director for the Council of Fleet Specialists, and dedicated his time to various advisory boards for several of the industries leading suppliers. During his career John completed business management courses at Texas A&M and the University of Illinois Urbana.

John and his wife Barb enjoy spending time boating on Lake Ontario, and time with family and friends. John's hobbies include golf, tennis hunting and cycling. Recently John became a pilot, and has grown a passion for flying.

John is anxious to share his experience and knowledge with his son and his co-workers at UMW while finding new opportunities in the custom fabrication industry. He is committed to capital investments in equipment, facilities and technology to both enhance and grow the business, and also to better serve the customers.

John F Sharkey IV

John F. Sharkey IV is originally from Camillus, NY. During the summer’s John and his family spent time at their summer place in Mexico, NY. He attended West Genesee High School where he graduated in 2001. While in high school he played varsity hockey and was captain of West Genesee’s 2001 state championship team. After high school John attended St. Lawrence University where he majored in both Math & Economics. During his time at St. Lawrence John was a member of the crew team as well as the club hockey team. Shortly after graduating from college he made the decision to pursue his MBA. John attended RIT, he completed the Fast Track MBA Program with a dual concentration in both finance and entrepreneurship. AXA Advisors offered John a position in their Rochester branch in the fall of 2007, while at AXA he assisted to seasoned veterans with a substantial book of business. He also obtained his Series 7 and his Series 66 as well as his Life & Health License. Looking to work for a smaller organization closer to Syracuse John sought employment with Security Mutual. While working for Security Mutual John was presented with the opportunity to purchase C&C Metal Fabrication’s in Fulton, NY. On September 7, 2010 John and his father purchased what is now Universal Metal Works.

John currently lives in Oswego, NY. His interests include spending time with his wife Katie and his “shop dog” Sackett. He really enjoys spending time on the water and participating in various water activities. He also enjoys rowing, biking, and Gaelic football. When he is not at the shop he likes to spend time working on his house and furniture building.

John’s favorite part of working at Universal Metal Works is forming relationships with the different customer’s and satisfying their needs by delivering a high quality product created by the team at UMW.
